Can anyone advise if they have any connection with the surnames - Repac or
Skorec

Thought to be possibly from an area in the north of Croatia

Croatia phone directory at
http://infobel.com/en/world/Teldir.aspx?Ct=Europe&Co=Croatia&Dn=Hrvatskitelekom&url=http://www.tportal.hr/imenik/default.asp?lang=1
has 99 Repac listings and no Skorec listings.

Ellis Island immigration passenger record shows one Skorec listing from
Vaghave, Hungary.

Also Skorecz from Hungary. There are no Skorecz in Croatian phone
directory.

Hungary phone directory at
http://infobel.com/en/world/Teldir.aspx?Ct=Europe&Co=Hungary&Dn=Matáv&url=http://www.matav.hu/tudakozo/index_e.html
has no Skorec and no Repac, but one Repaczky.

An Internet search for Repac+genealogy finds some posts on
http://genforum.genealogy.com/croatia/page13.html#6167 for Repac and
Skorich. Might check these out.

Not a lot of help. Good luck.

Here is a new site that is not at all complete. But, it may give you some
direction.
http://www.publicprofiler.org/worldnames/Main.aspx

If you do a search for Repac, you get where they are in the World. Many of
them appear to be in Serbia, with some in Slovenia.

A similar search for Skorec, finds most of them in Sweden.

Good luck.

Hmmm, the very Croatian Gazic came up as Muslim, despite the fact that
there have been generations of them in and around Zadar for hundreds
of years. Not one hit to Croatia. My other Croatian surnames either
didn't come up or came up as German.

Yes, the site doesn't seem to be real good. I think it just hasn't been
well developed yet. You can check out the FAC, and see what sources the
developers are using for their information. One of their sources are phone
directories, so I can't see why they did not find the 167 Gazic listings in
the Croatia phone directory. Puzzling.
